looking to pick up my first bike within the next week. I have around 3k to spend and want a 1997 or newer sport bike. I found this one about an hour away from me that I'm interested in but don't know much about it. he's asking 2,700, but i might be able to talk him down.

"I have a 1999 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R for sale. The bike runs good, rides good, and it is in good condition. The bike does have a salvage title, but I have not noticed any problems in the way the bike rides or handles. The only thing the bike needs is a windscreen because one night I didn't have the kickstand down good and it fell over in my garage and cracked the windscreen."

do ya'll think that's a good deal? should i worry about the salvage title? i'm wondering whether i should jump on this now or wait until fall when bikes will be cheaper. what do ya'll think would be a better idea?

The salvage title means it did more than fall over in the garage, I would suspect either a street fall at speed, or worse yet on a track. I'd walk away from this one.

How about a nice Bandit or Katana? Much cheaper to insure, and a much safer first bike.

I would walk away also.
I worked at alot of Car dealerships as a title clerk and a salvage title was never good.

I agree with both responses... you can find a nice bike for 3k that has not been wrecked.
