My uncle has one of the Mini-Cycles that runs on a lawnmower engine. The chain seems really loose and keeps falling off when we try to ride it.
Is there a way to tighten the chain and what lube do you suggest we use?

I think the engine is slotted on those because I don't think the rear wheel is slotted. Loosen up the bolts that hold the engine on the frame and see if it slides forward. If not you're probably going to need a new chain or you're going to have to rig up some sort of tensioner. Make sure that the sprockets run in line with each other or it will keep pitching chains. You'll want to leave a little slack in the chain also.
Any kind of chain lube will work with something like that just don't put it on there too heavy or it will get into the centrifical clutch. You can get white spray on grease that will do ok just let it dry before riding.

I think you have that right about sliding the motor forward, CB. If all else fails knock a link off the chain with a grinder & a punch (if it has a masterlink) Chain on these is usually #35
