Bikes similar to older Shadows?

I used to own an 83 Honda Shadow 750 that I liked quite a bit but foolishly traded it for an old VW. Recently I've been trying to find an 84-87 Shadow 500 or 700 without much luck. Are there other bikes very similar to the Shadow you would recommend that I could likely find for under $2000? I definitely want to stick to a shaft drive and close to those engine sizes. Something reliable and easy to maintain.

Right now Cruisers like that seem to be bringing premium money (I blame the chopper craze) for even older stuff. You could probably pick up a Virago 750/920/1000/ or an older 1100 pretty easy for 2 grand or a Suzuki Intruder or a Kawasaki Vulcan 750. Shadows are tough to come by simply because nobody wants to part with them but they are out there.

I see the Shadows fairly often around here, we bought my wife's 85 VT500C for $1,400. Also look for the Magna of that vintage, similar style, but a V-4 instead of a twin.
