View Full Version : valve adjustment 86 honda rebel 450

i adj. valves to specs but not sure on the amount of drag on my feeler guage i should feel . i think they may be to loose, but not much. anybody have an example on how to tell how hard it should be to pull feeler gauge.

Like the name implies, it takes a feel that usually comes with experience.
Work the blade around until you feel the "sweet spot" that has the least amount of resistance. At that point you should only "feel" the slightest of drag on the blade. Tah Dah!
P.S. Make sure your setting your gap according to the manufacturers recomendations for HOT or COLD settings.

In my experience if the size you want goes in and the next size up does not (without forcing the feeler gauge) you are close enough. These things have tolerence and I usually shoot for the middle and never have a problem.
