My 86 Vulcan gives no response when I turn on the ignition. No green neutral light, no starter, nothing. All fuses are good. Everything is connected. All other electrics work o.k.. Gotta be something simple huh?

Hey, Im new to operating and repairing motorcycles in particular, but the principles of troubleshooting and correcting problems never changes. First, learn about the system, the 'theory' then start pulling things apart, right. Each time you pull it apart, clean, maintain, or replace a part, then put it all back together and try it.

Id start by checking the battery.
Full charge? Connections clean? Then I suppose the ignition switch... Ect ect... I dont know if this will help, but I hate to see a post unreplied to surrounded by ones that have been answered... Good luck,

If the neutral switch is bad, you should be able to get the bike to start by squeezing in the clutch lever.

Okay, if the bike started you have a bad neutral switch. I'm not sure about your model, but most of the time they are inside the transmission. That means you would have to split the transmission. It's a lot cheaper to just live with it. But I'm getting ahead of myself, we need to see if the bike starts with the clutch in.
