I am a bike beginner, and need aid choosing a motorcycle

I want something that can carry me around and is fast, but easy for a new guy.

It can't be too weak either, I am a big guy, about 230 so I am not sure if a 250 or less cc bike will cut it, but I don't really know.

It ain't like getting married...buy the cheapest thing you can find and ride it a while then trade up if it doesn't suit you. You gotta start somewhere and keep your investment minimal until you have the knowledge to make an informed choice. The important thing is the wind in your face and the freedom of the open road.
