Hi Guys...I just joined the forum today. I'm not too sure how this forum thing works...
One of my projects is a 1969 Yamaha YR2-C scrambler- 350 2-stroke with the autolube setup. Most manuals have very limited info on the autolube systems, and I am trying to find someone with experience in the system.. It seems I have and over-oiling problem.

Is that the one they called "The Big Bear", or was that the 305? You know I never had to work on an autolube problem, you'd think there would be an adjuster. I've had lots of bikes with those systems but can't remember ever having that problem. Are you actually using this bike? What makes you think it's excess oil? I think there are special plugs that will fire in oil. you might consider allowing the extra oil so as to protect the piston and rings or are these still available?
I think the Big Bear was the smaller 305. I ride this bike alot. I have actually changed the plugs very recently and since then the problem seems to have gotten better. I was over-oiling because in 4th or 5th gear cruising with light acceleration a hudge cloud of smoke could be seen behind the bike. I also think that the oil that was in the tank finally burned off , when I bought the bike there was still about 1 litre in there. Who knows how long it was in there...( I have been adding a "smokeless" honda 2stroke oil).

I know this is an old thread, but I thought I'd post for future reference...
There is no adjustment to be made to the autolube, with the exception of idle pumping speed (adjusted by shimming the end plate) and the tightness of the cable. Make sure that the cable is tight enough that when you roll all the way to WOT, the autolube pump hits the stop. This will ensure that you have enough oil.
I'm running Bel-Ray Si-7 oil in my YDS3, but that's a synthetic and you do have to completely purge the autolube system before using it.

One thing I did find out about Autolube systems is you kind of have to use oil made for Autolube systems not premix. I have 2 machines with the Autolube system here, a PW80 and a YFS200 and I run Yamalube 2S in both of them. Never had any trouble thus far with either of them using that. The one is still on the origional plug.

Yeah, the Yamalube 2 is the stuff designed for autolube systems. But the Bel-Ray Si-7 is what my dad always ran in the bike...

Can't argue with success. I been using Yamalube in the kid's bike and the one 4 wheeler since they was new and the 4 wheeler has taken some punishment. Bel Ray makes a good product too and I used their premix a lot in my RM 125 I had.

Sure, that's not what I meant. The Yamalube is meant for it, and will do a fine job. My dad just chose to run the SI-7, and since the system was already prepped for it, I started with it from the beginning of the rebuild.
