Hi I am interested in buying a bike sometime in the short future and have been looking around lately and when im searching on ebay it seems like I always find these bikes that are selling for rediculously low prices. I guess I am just wondering if anyone has purchased one of these bikes and are they for real. EX. there is a 05 GSX-R 1000 selling for "buy it now" $3k...here is the link

Avoid the un-natural unless you can actually touch the damn thing!
I was searching for a bike this year too, same sinareo. Completely bogus!
Move on.

where I am a newbie as well, I know that a 2005 GSXR1000 for $3k would be a real bargain, but if you look at the title it is probably a "salvage" for that price. A 2005 used with no problem from what I have seen would cost around what, $8000 - $9000 at least?

Something sounds fishy there. That's way too cheap. An 05 GSXR 1000 books for like $8300. It probably is a scam.

The thing is if it seems too good to be true it probably is.

You know that's the problem I have with motor vehicles selling on the internet. Photos can be easily retouched, reputations can be built up between partners, history can be rewritten...For example Allstate recently worked out a deal with the individual states attorney generals that allowed them to dispose of more than 40,000 totaled vehicles, many flood cars from the gulf states, without documentation. And that's just one insurance company. These vehicles were wholesaled with clean titles. How many two wheel nightmares from New Orleans alone are being pedaled on the net is anyones guess. These bikes can be cleaned up to look like new, in fact many ARE new. but once submerged in flood waters they are a write off. One by one bearings will burn out...electronic systems will short and fry to a crisp...brakes can lock up at high speed...If you're going to sell these bikes to people...the internet is the only way to go because otherwise you could get personal repercussions
