Hi,
You can save a lot of cash looking for parts and accessories at small local shops and on the internet rather then paying Harley dealer prices. I know J & P Cycles have a huge mail order catalog. Know of any others? and have you been happy with them? One thing about the Harley dealers is it doesn't hurt to try and bargain on parts, depending on the dealership, they might knock a few dollars off for ya.

Theres Custom Chrome, and Drag Specialties also. But i know you can only order from Drag Specialties through an authorized dealer. Which even most metric shops have, since it's owned by Parts Unlimited. Custom Chrome i can't remember, but i know its handled by Motorcycle Stuff, which most metric shops also carry.

Hey Bulgod,
Thanks for the input and nice to hear from you. Have you used any of those guys? And if so how would you rate them? What did you buy from them?

I've used both. I got a rod assembly and lifter guides from Drag, and i got my tappets out of Custom Chrome along with a few bearings. I would rate them as pretty good. The main reason i went with them is my discount through work, but all in all they seem to be good quality parts, so i would recommend them.

I've been a dealer for most of the brand names you guy's have mentioned for years and I can say that the majority of them offer equal to superior parts compared to OEM. I hate to burst any bubbles but even Harley doesn't make a great deal of the parts that they bolt on to their own products.
Keep in mind that a number of aftermarket distributor/mfg.'s offer their dealers to private label their catologs both in hardcopy and on the dealers website as if the catologs were the dealers own. This sometimes is a plus because the dealer can select how much of a discount from the suggested retail price is posted to the customer. Some dealers believe that 10 o/o of something is better than 100 o/o of nothing. Theres some wisdom in that and you won't find much of that from J&P or Dennis Kirk.
Just a newbie here offering some freebie info. if it helps.

Bought a set of aftermarket rear sprocket bolts (chrome) once, was in the middle of Mojave Desert and they snapped like twigs.
