The MSF is trying out a new training program to help fill the gap between the Basic Rider Course and the rider becoming proficient on the street. The MSF Street Ridercourse helps prepare new riders to play in the street.

The classes are currently running in limited locations such as the Discovery Rider Training Center in California. The class size is small, with no more than three students for a single instructor and four students with two instructors. The students wear helmets equipped with earphones so they can listen to the instructor as they ride. Students use their own motorcycles for the course, and follow behind the instructor on the street.

The classes are broken up into two parts, the SRC1 and the SRC2. The first part takes the students on a tour of suburban streets and eases them into watching out potential hazards, such as cars backing out of driveways. The second part of the course takes students out to the interstate where they can practice their higher-speed skills.

The course currently runs about $250 in California.

This is excellent. Many come out of the BRC having never been on the street.
