....would you consider a '97 Honda Magna VF750C a "cruiser"? If not, what class would it be in? Certainly not a "touring bike," right? A "boulevard cruiser"? I wouldn't think so. Fill me in here, guys.

Yes, a cruiser. If they still made the 1100cc (V65) engine it would probably be considered a power cruiser.

I think so, but I'm biased. A friend and I are heading out for a two day trip to Joseph, Oregon tomorrow morning. A magnificent 195 mile ride through some of the most scenic mountain roads in the lower 48. On Google Maps, I counted 13 hairpin turns in ONE MILE!

Here's my bike....and his Harley.

Disclaimer, I am biased as I own two Magna's.

The Magna was pretty much in a class of its own when it came to performance and appearance. It's a cruiser with a kick, but doesn't mind just being a cruiser.

The Magna has it's place in Harley history as well. Harley lobbied hard for the gov't to do something to deter people from buying larger engine metrics. HD was still recovering from AMF selling HD to private investors and the sheer numbers of metrics being imported was killing HD's sales. So a tariff was put in on all bikes over 700cc. Honda responded by making a 698cc engine. The VF700c Magna was the result....and people bought the Magna.

The Magna's styling was unique as was it's performance characteristics. To date, they're still easy to recognize amid the model clones out there. Especially when it comes to the first generation Magna's.

The second generation (yours) were chromed up and lowered a bit, but they still have the V4 water-cooled heart of the first generation beating in 'em.

I know a some HD owners who have a Magna in the garage and take it out with just as much pride as their HD. They're great bikes and fun as hell to ride.

If you ever get the chance to ride a V65 Magna with a Corbin seat and good road pegs - well.... you'll know what I mean then :D

Chef said it - Ride Safe :)
