if bicycle - 10. because I didn't even have a small bicycle to learn on before that (all adult size there). If motorized, 16, because my family wouldn't let me ride at younger age, in fact that was pretty common where I used to live. No license required then, only got it when I was like ... 25 because the US requires it

I bought a 1959 Triumph Cub for $100 from a widow whose husband had 6 bikes. It cost me everything I had saved from my summer job at the time.
I was 15 in 1962 and the bike was too good a deal to pass up.
I had never ridden anything with two wheels except a bicycle before that.
My Father went through the roof when I brought it home!

I also was 15 in 1962, when I got my license. Bought a 1950's era Sears Allstate Cruisaire. Paid $70 for it. Looked like a Vespa 125, 2 cycle. Fixed it up, painted it, and rode it for 2 years. Had a bike ever since and still ride. Currently have an 06 Yamaha V-Star.

10 years old on a borrowed bike, 14 when I got my own bike. I was not allowed to have a motor bike, so I bought one and kept it at the guy's house who sold it to me, and then rode it out from his house. It seized up, with minor damage because I did not know it was a two-stroke engine and you had to add oil to the gasoline. :-( I had just filled up the tank with regular fuel the first time it got low. Not good.

17 - 1971. Borrowed bike, some new Yamaha 100cc two stroke which I don't even remember the model. The owner thought I knew how to ride, I didn't dissuade him, and somehow survived with just minor scratches to both body and bike.

The year was 1988. I had just turned 19. I was still living with my parents while I went to college. My father threatened to kick me out if I bought a motorcycle. I called his bluff and bought a used 1981 Honda CB650 Custom with 10,000 miles for $600. Luckily, he not only didn't kick me out, but he even went with me to pick up the bike.

I started at 12, or 13, on a honda 50cc minibike. I would tool around on that on the dirt roads around my grandmothers house.

At 17, I was given a CM400E to ride for the summer. No helmet then because I was invincible. There was nothing legal about riding then..

In my late 20's I bought a CB750, then four years ago I bought my FZ1.

i just started this year in december (25). i had for years thought about riding, but never did. i was drinking one evening, hanging out in the garage looking at my fathers motorcycle. my father told me "you can look at it longer, if you buy it". a week later, i bought the motorcycle off my father.

my mother was scepticle on the idea about me riding, my father was all for it. she's still sceptical, although that's just being a mother - always worrying.

My first bike was a dirt bike when I was about 12. Then a couple of small bikes and mopeds in my teens. College expences made bikes out of the question for me and I did not get back on them until my late 30's.

A slow bloomer here. Never been on a bike before in my life until about a month ago. I'm 52 now.

I'd been itching for one for a long time, but with little kids and the crazy drivers in Miami, the wife wouldn't have any of it. We've been married for over 30 years, so changing my wife wasn't really an option. ;)

Then a couple of months ago a good friend was diagnosed with kidney cancer and they ended up taking one of his kidneys. They're waiting on the followup to see if they got it all. At that point she said, You never know when your time is up. The kids are pretty much grown, It's our turn now. Let's buy a cruiser.

We went to the Harley dealership around the corner, just window shopping, not intending to buy, but there was a sweet deal on a customized Glide I just couldn't pass up. We're planning some rides with our friends now and looking forward to some good times.

I started riding a XR80 when I was 6 or 7 (cant exactly remember it was 30 years ago!!) I rode that bike until I was about 11 when my friend got a bigger bike then I started riding his 125. A few years later I would go riding on a friend's 450 and that lasted until I was about 20 ish. Fast forward to 37 and now I ride on the street with a CBR250 as a commuter bike.

Hm, well probably first time I rode any motorized two wheeler was around 16? Not entirely sure, but I'm not sure if that counts considering I was 16 and it was a little motor bike heh.
Other than that was a motorized scooter, then a Honda Rebel at the MSF course at 18. Literally just starting out, hope to always have one though.

Started at 18. Had a pocket full of cash and not a bit of sense in my head. Bought a 1986 Ninja and was ready to do 100mph with my hair on fire!! Incident at 75mph on the freeway convinced me i was not ready for that much bike, so I sold it. Now, at 46, I am getting back into riding, but along the way, my common sense bucket filled up a little bit and I am going the cruiser route ....

I'd never thrown a leg over a motorbike before. Bought a 250 cc learner cruiser, and now 28 months later ride a Boulevard M50.

Do have something against motorbikers though. Why didn't anyone take me aside earlier and tell me what fun it is.
