My FZR600 pretty much stock...what octane gas should I be running?

Pretty much everyone I know runs premium in their bike, but I've read online that the FZR600 is tuned for 87...

If you want to save money do the research to find what will run in it. I know my 550 does fine with 87 so I run 87 since excess octane does nothing for speed and acceleration.
Now by experience, hearing detonation as a rattling under load and acceleration, I find I had to run 92 in my KLX650 when stock. With the big bore Vulcan piston seems to be tolerant of 89, but I still run 92 just to be on the safe side with it.
If you aren't sure, run 92, but if you find it is capable of lower grade, run it. You'll save some money since it will pretty much run exactly the same with either grade.
My old Bultaco Sherpa T two stroke ran better down low with the regular than it did with the higher octane. I think it was due to the burn characteristics of the fuel. With the oil mix the higher grade, which has a higher resistance to igniting, would not fire as well at very low speeds I rode with the trials bike.

I would agree with Mark. Do some research and run it with what is suggested. But it won't hurt anything if you run a higher octane gasoline.
