I know a lot of like to listen to music while riding. What kind of ear buds do you use. I'm looking for the best ones that can cancel out the most outside noise.

Ulatmate ears :p but the are very very expensive like $250ish last I checked on ebay

I have a $15 pair I bought from Radio Shack/the source they work really really well. To well actually, I never use both at the same time because even with nothing playing I can't hear anything, barely even my own bike.

$250 Wow I hope there is a lot of gold in those things!! The markup must be incredable. Thanks for the info I will check out radio shack. I would rather have them work too good than not good enough.

heh the Ultamate ears are really really nice ear buds, designed for sound quality. After looking at them, yea... prbably costs them $6 to make, but there's probably a lot into the R&D of them.

I got a pair of of Altecs from Wal-Mart, for about $30. They stick into your ears and work wonderfully and sound great.

I'm one of those who occasionally likes to listen to music when I ride. I tried several different types and finally settled on a pair of cheapos from Walmart. They are kinda' like ear plugs and cancel out a lot of road noise, even without music playing. IIRC, they were less than $10.

By the way, what kind of music do you guys like to listen to? I have downloaded about 150 songs on my MP3, stuff by Bob Seger, the Stones, Joe Cocker, Marshall Tucker, The Eagles, Aerosmith, a few country songs and a few odds and ends....like Leon Redbone....and even a few classical tunes.

Nothing like riding through the curves in the Rocky Mountains listening to "Against The Wind."

I have found nothing causes my bike to go faster than Disturbed or Metalica on the iPod!!!!!

I have a very broad taste in music so I have every thing from the Insane Clown Posse to Patsy Cline on my iPod. My wife says I have the most complete collection of annoying/played out/one hit wonder songs on the planet. (Vanilla Ice, Snow, Survivor, Milli Vanilli, Cameo et al)

I do need some better ear buds though... even on full volume my V-twin completely drowns out the music :D when I am on the gas.....

Quite the contrary...

1) I believe admitting on a public forum that I have thier music on my iPod takes BALLS.... Not only is it a public forum, but it is a BIKER forum.

2) One of my ex's was a stripper and she used to open her night with that song... she was HOTTTTTT. Too bad her Hot-to-Crazy ratio was way higher on the crazy side!!!! Her last dance of the night was always to "Black Velvet" and to this day, I can't hear either song with out smiling :D

If either of my reasons for refusing to surrender my Man Card are insufficient for you, you'll just have to get over it.

Pix or it didn't happen!
Relax man, just a bit of humor.
There is a fine line between balls and stupid.
The previous remark is a line I have been using for years, not necessarily meant for the previous poster.

I use skull candy, lifetime warrenty and if you break em they give you 1/2 off your next pair. cant beat that. and theyre noise isolating. I only use one when on the bike.

Earbuds for MP3 when riding or driving is lawful in Oregon, but it's a really, really stupid idea.

You need to be able to hear all that "road noise" around you. Studies have demonstrated that persons who are isolated in their private "sound bubble" compromise their reaction times and attention focus to other tasks -- and the "other task" on the highway is DRIVING.

Some folks just aren't very astute at multi-tasking. Maybe it would be a good idea to make it mandatory that all radios be removed from automobiles, too....eh? Maybe make it against the law to have children in the car as they might distract one from their primary task of D*R*I*V*I*N*G.

Man....I'm tellin' ya'....some people chap my......no, Dewman....don't go there.

So I'm pretty much a new rider. Almost 5 months. And if there's anything I missed about my cager is the XM radio. Living in a rural town means no variety and lots of commercials. So the last few weekends I started borrowing my daughters Phillips GoGear Aria 8GB w/ some ear buds from my wifes iphone. I mostly don't wear it in town just the highway. But I've been told I have to get my own. That means upcoming birthday or xmas requast. We just got a new ATT plan and got new phones. My wife and son got the iphones that gets XM too she said but I didn't get an iphone. Nice to be able to see where the cheapest gas is but what do I care. I'd rather ride to see.

The GoGear got "above average" customer reviews and "good" editor review. Is this an adequate player for my needs? Should I invest more in the buds than the player? Can you give me some recommendations? Woops, had to take a break to kill this scorpion my boy saw on the wall. I'd like to stay away from high-end units. Thanks.
