Turns out that all those "Motorcycles, Life &..." essays caught LWRider's attention AND since he's got his own publishing company he said "Why not?" and I said "Here, hold my drink..."

And BINGO we beat on the keyboards and...

A book.

Whether it helps motorcycling or hurts it I'm not sure but we'll be in Daytona and there will be ads in prominent mags.

Thanks LW and Thanks to Everyone for your input and interest.

LW had been reading the "Motorcycles, Life &..." that I had posted and thought there was a book in them. We started collaborating; he with the publishing end and me with writing and PRESTO, a book! We'll have more details as they become available.

Yes, we are planning both Kindle and Nook eBook versions.

I don't want to step over the line here and sound like advertising (although about March you will see our paid ad at the top of the forum anyway) but just for informational purposes, we are first producing a physical book, then the eBooks will follow quickly.

Crash and I will work out a way to deliver at least a limited number of signed copies. Still have to figure out the best way to do that.

We are still in production mode and you will have to wait at least until sometime in February to get your hands on one. Signed copies, of course can be had at the show in Daytona.

Hope to meet a bunch of ya'll in person at Bike Week (including Crash)!

Cheers,

Mike

Yep, that is the book. That is the softcover physical book which is available for advance orders, but not physically in their inventory yet.

sunflashmace7,
I am in Lake Wales, just 40 or so miles southwest of ya'll. Come on down sometime and we'll do a ride. Or depending on where you are in O-town I could meet you up there.

Brent will be signing a number of these while in Daytona. If you can't make it to the show during Bike Week, we will send the remaining signed copies to our warehouse and you will be able to order them online or call in your order. When that happens I will post a "coupon" code to put in the memo field when ordering so they will know to send you a signed copy. Won't be until March.

Forgot to add: the only signed copies will be availble direct from us. I have not directed the URL yet to the book purchase pages, but it will be roaddogpub.com Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and other bookstores will have regular unsigned copies only.

Crash is right, and the Kindle reading app is free. Same goes for Nook from Barnes and Noble. If you do ever get a Kindle, too, the books will also be available for it with no extra expense. I can read all my e-books wherever I want, on my netbook, on my PC or on my Kindle. Nook is also availalbe for the computer.

My Android phone came with the Kindle app. I tried to read a book on it.... I will stick with real books for now. Maybe if I got a dedicated E-reader, but the phone screen just will not cut it.

LWRider
02-10-2011, 10:34 AM
Yeah, I think most people would prefer reading on the Kindle reader or at least on their PC because of the size of the screens. Plus the Kindle reader is so small, I like it because I can slip it into my tail bag and take my library wherever I go on the bike very easily. Wish I woudl have had it with me at Barber for those nights in camp with nothing to do but drink beer.

iamjustifyd

I am actually looking at living in the kissimmee area I have been told it is close enough to orlando yet not quite in the middle of everything.

Kissimmee area is nice, at least compared to Orlando. Still pretty busy, though, but if you live south of town it thins out. Poinciana is just a bit south and is nice. Riding from here to Kissimmee is an easy ride and not bad if you take the back ways like I do. You also might want to look at Saint Cloud, east of Kissimmee. Of course, it all depends on where you work or go to school 'cause that whole Orlando area is pretty spread out. If you work on the west or north sides, then Apopka is pretty nice and north of there there is some good riding. I run up north of Apopka then east to Deland and on to Daytona when I go for Octoberfest, etc. Also, north of there puts you in Ocala National Forest pretty quickly which also has some good riding. And getting west to the coast from there is easy too. Southwest of there is great riding in the area aroudn Brooksville (the hill country of Florida).

Cheers,

Mike

OK. Got the dealio on where we'll be in Daytona: We're at the Ocean Center Daytona, in the International Motorcycle show--next to the Progressive guys, right near the front entrance and the head...so we'll get good traffic. Stop by and say HI...you can see me marvel at 80 degrees in March. OH and we're there Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

OH and we're there Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Actually, Wed, Thur, and Fri until 5pm and Sat until 4pm. ;)

Our ads are hitting now. Just saw Road Bike at our local grocery and it was the issue with the ad for the book. Any moment, too, you will be seeing a banner ad here, which will lead you to the book if you are so inclined.

I am fired up for this whole Bike Week thing, but nervous, too, so many details. At least one of my worries is past. I just got back from the garage and the Virgin Whore, now equipped with a rebuilt starter, fired up and took me 'round the block. So, now I won't have to drive my truck around while I watch Brent zip by on my CB!

Hope some of ya'll that make it to Bike Week drop by booth 1202--no obligation--just be nice to meet some of all ya'lls.

Thanks! Good to hear. If anyone who's read the book could it would be real helpful to have reviews on amazon.

I am so psyched for the week. 200 books arrived today adn the last ad stuff has been taken care of.

I took the thumper out on a road test and it worked flawlessly! Finally; it seemed like every time I fixed something on this another thing went wrong. The bike sounds awesome with the Softtail exhaust on it. People were looking out at Fuzzy's when I fired it up tonight to head home.

Hi All,

Dredged this old post up to say we had a great time at the show. It was nice to meet you Eye_m and hopefully we can get together in Central Florida one of these days.

We made some great contacts which will probably result in reviews and maybe even a radio interview--better than just simply selling books at the show. A board member of the Motorcycle Hall of Fame even thought the book worthy enough to buy!

Anyway, as a bunch of folk have mentioned they want a signed copy, I wanted to let you know that I sent a few boxes of signed copies off to our warehouse after the show; they should arrive next Monday (3/21/11). If you would like a signed copy, just go to roaddogpub.com and order a book. While checking out you will get a memo box in which you need to type "Signed Copy" so the warehouse will know from which case to pull your order. There is no extra charge for a signed copy and they will be available until supply is exhausted (at this time we have a little over a hundred signed copies).

Cheers,

Mike

And the CB350 is a TON of fun to ride--Although the CB175 was interesting...

At least it was not a CB000!

(Brent lost the left cyclinder on the 350 before we got out of Lake Wales. We tried several things but because of time limitations, we had to load her up and trailer her to Daytona. I continued on the Virgin Whore, my 650 thumper, which didn't miss a beat all week. Once in Daytona, with time to mess with the CB, I found it was simply a case of dirty points that had decided at just that moment to quit passing current. A few swipes with some wet/dry paper and she was up and running and once again a 350 [actually a CB350 is 325ccs, but that's splitting hairs] and Brent finally got the chance to feel the raw power of a 60s Honda!)

Sometimes ya gotta take what amazon says with a grain of salt. Fact is those books are sitting in our distributors warehouse just waiting to go out the door to amazon, Barnes and Noble, and any other retailers who want them. Amazon was probably just slow to place their initial order.

Now there is a simple check box. If you want a signed copy of Crash's book just click in the box and they will know which one to send you.
