The Tourist

I had a seven year old pair of boots fall apart recently, despite my best efforts to have them repeatedly repaired. Oh, I have other boots, but they are primarily for riding, and in the case of my job, I do have to walk around some and work standing.
I discussed this problem with the woman in motor clothes, and she showed me a recent addition to their line. At first these boots just seemed like another black pair of Harley boots--that is, until I put them on.
They are incredibly light in weight. I wore them on their first long maiden voyage today, and while they seem to be designed more for summer, they kept the cool air out. Being just high enough, they kept the wind out as my Sportster has forward pegs.
They have Vibram soles, and they grip well. The thing I like about them is that while the toe box is roomy, the overall all toe height allows me to comfortably fit my foot between the peg and the shift lever. One other pair has a pretty sparse clearance.
My goal was to find a lighter pair, with a comfortable but supportive lining and good arch support. They have my favorite type of closure, using both ties and zippers. That way I can adjust them to personal comfort, but just unzip them when I get home.
I walked around the dealership today (with two cups of stolen coffee), and they did not pinch at all. While they are not the cure-all for our primary riding needs, they have a place for me.
The new pair is on the left, my usual pair is on the right. Sadly, the worn out pair is gone...
