2002 Bmw R1150rs

Here is mine, which I just bought on March 6, 2010. Drove it home 360 miles from Jacksonville, FL to Fort Lauderdale, FL. Bike performed superbly on I-95.
Very happy.

I bought it new in the spring of 1980. It was to be the last bike I would ever need.

Great looking bikes. When I first started seriously looking, A BMW was the last thing I thought I'd pick, but they grew on me. Keep it up with these, they're good stuff.

Dogs like sidecars and my dogs were suprisingly accepting of the doggles (dog goggles).
The saffron colored dog's name is Saffron. The other dog used to be my mother's dog and is Sally. Unfortunately Saffron is not too bright and has never learned the difference between Sally and Saffron.

That's a very nice rig, BikeCycleMan!

I am concerned about your gaiters, however.

As compressed as they are at rest, they will fully compress before your fork travel has reached it's limit, robbing you of (it looks like) a lot of travel.

In fact, it looks like you have less than stock travel as it is.

I was taught to pull the bottom of the gaiter down as far as I could to regain that travel.

It is also important not to have too long of a gaiter for the space allotted.

Here I am getting told....

A little help please? I just purchased a 1995 R1100R and it will not cruise at a constant speed it seems to cut out at a constant 65 or 70mph. If i give it throttle it responds but other wise it is not right. I was thinking the fuel filter or spark plugs. The bike idles ffine.

I don't really know anything about these bikes, but I do know that the surging (at speed) was a common complaint when the bikes first came out.

I thought for sure there would be a good Yahoo Group to address your issue, but I couldn't find one.

I did, however, find this article on the IBMWR website:

I may have enough to post a photo now. It is a 1998 K1200 RS with a bit over 9000mi on the odie. No leaks of any kind after I had the fork seals replaced. I had AmMa barbacks installed as my back and wrists could not adapt to the ergo's of this model. It came with hard bags and soft liners and I wish winter would leave.

The bike is a R100/2 ~ '65 frame, '78 lump, '82 wheels and controls Kids- don't try this at home!) (what a nightmare) Built for sidecar use.

At long last.

I've always loved these and a '73 /5 just fell into my lap. Mechanically sound but cosmetically challenged. I'm looking at a frame up restoration this winter. I'll ride her before that with a big smile. I tried to post a pic but rules say I can't as I'm a newbie. Fine.

Looking to add a sidecar to my BMW

I am currently living in Wisconsin, and I am looking to add a sidecar to my 2002 K1200LT. I have a couple of question to throw up there for some of you experts.

1) Do you know of any shops in Wisconsin who has knowledge of equipping my BMW with a sidecar? I would prefer to work with someone who has previous experience in this type of work on my BMW.

2) Is there any advice you can offer to a novice in sidecars?

3) Are there any specific questions I should ask the shop when discussing the conversion?

I appreciate any feedback/suggestion you have to offer!
