1993 Intruder vs800 engine swap PLEASE HELP!!!!

I have a 1993 suzuki intruder vs800. Recently I was riding when it lost power and died with tons of smoke. There was a brief spark seen by person behind me. There is a large hole in the engine below the front piston. I have no idea what caused it. I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what brand and size motors, if any, could be swapped with the vs800? I am trying to find out if it is possible to put in anotger kind of engine, and if so what kinds would work. Im assuming the engine needs replacing.

Engines are generally not interchangeable with other models and brands. It's possible, with some expert fabrication skills if you don't consider money and time as a barrier, but most would go with the same model engine since everything will fit.

You can look up part numbers from different years to see if they will fit.

The mountings for all VS800 engines are the same, so virtually any VS800 Intruder or S50 Boulevard engine will fit. What changed over the years is the electronic ignitions and details of the carburetors. Also, California models have extra parts you won't want (unless yours IS a CA model).

If you find a used engine in good condition, try to get the matching ignition electronics, at the very least. Your carbs will work just fine, if the used engine has none.

it could have been a fuel issue, I've heard of connecting rods bending with too much fuel. either way it is toast, I don't know what the availability on bikes is in your area but I would suggest parting it but not until you have another set of wheels.

I realise your question was many months ago but we have just taken in an Intruder 800 1994 [L]. Complete bike as a project. Has an engine that has covered 12,946 miles if of interest.

VS800 Engine swap/rebuild

@ Gloucester Bikes If you still have the engine from your parts bike, I may be interested.
Where are you located? Any idea what shipping would be to Columbus Ohio 43227

Thanks
