Kick Starter Won't Engage

1974 Suzuki TS-125. Rode it last week and everything worked great. Today, when I try to start it, the starter lever just "free wheels" (does not connect to anything internally). Engine won't turn over. Anybody else had this problem? I hesitate to start taking it apart without knowing what's inside the casing? Are there any pics or manuals on-line I can look at?

Sorry, I'm as stumped as you are. I have a '72 TS185 I'm working on. My problem is that the kick starter works fine and engages, but the bike has a hard time starting cold. Once it's warmed up it starts right up...

Kick Starter Won't Engage

Hi Popo, I think you could have one of three problems. I have a T-500 (Suzuki Titan) engine/trans on my bench right now with the same problem. If the bike has been sitting (like mine), you might have a sludge or rust situation internally preventing the spring-loaded engagement action from working smoothly. Or, the spring could be broken. Lastly, maybe there is a gear tooth missing somewhere. Please let me know if you have resolved it since your last posting and we can share notes as we move along (I plan to open my case soon to see what is going on).
