1996 Honda Shadow ACE 1100

Thought I'd look for a new toy and stumbled onto a '96 Honda Shadow ACE 1100 in the black/teal colours. Has 64K kms on the dial (40K miles), small windscreen, saddlebags, sissy bar bag, Corbin seat, stock seat (in the box) Honda original service manual and tires and battery are new. Looks, runs and sounds decent. Asking is around $1,600 USD. Thoughts?

This is really no help, but awesome color scheme! Very retro looking.

Looks like a pretty clean machine. 40 K miles ain't really too much for that bike I guess.
Might be a good idea to take a look at the spark plugs to see if it looks like it's burning oil.

$1,600 sounds pretty fair. I may try offering less. It is a 20 year old bike after all.
But what does "runs and sounds decent" mean?

Bike has sat for 6-8 months and not seen daylight and needs a good wash. It started, warmed up and idled fine and I was able to get it into 1st and 2nd gears no problem. I wasn't able to take it for a ride as it was not plated or insured. Lights and horn all working as expected. The high mileage is a concern for me though.

I was out today looking at a 2009 Shadow Spirit 750 that has 1,500 kms on the dial, so only just broken in. Asking is close to $4K CAN and I did ride this one. Impressive bike, showroom mint, low mileage and I liked the sporty riding position. reminded me of my HD Sportster 1200C

Well........that red Honda Spirit was nice but in the end I bought the 1996 Honda Shadow ACE 1100 instead. I rode her home tonight and it ran perfect and was solid as a rock. Likely the first ride in months.

Seller included a factory Honda service manual, leather sissy bar bag, stock seat (Corbin on bike now), bike cover and several new spark plugs. Tires and battery were installed new when owner bought the bike and have maybe 500 kms on them. I think I did OK.

Like the color combo. It looks good and sounds good, and you say rides good. What more do you want in a bike? Congrats

I'd say you did better than "OK"! Pretty classy color scheme as well.

I love the colors, and I didn't have the bike home for more than a few minutes before my neighbors came over to comment on my 50's styled bike. There's something very striking about the gloss black and teal color combo that draws people in.

It looks better now that I've washed off most of the dust that had accumulated over the last year. The tank is flawless and the chrome is great. I have some pitting on the chrome rims, but will use Autosol to try and get that off.

I was at the dealer today getting the mandatory safety check, and when I went out to ride home, I found that she made friends. Parked right next to the same bike only in yellow and with different accessories. How cool is that!

40,000 miles doesn't mean anything other than the former owner LIVED to ride that bike!! As long as he took care of it, you should get ANOTHER 40k out of it!!

I owned one.......I LOVED it!! Same year, same model.
