Something followed me home last night...

Started browsing Craigslist last night, and when I woke up this morning, this was in my driveway. I have no idea how it got there

It's a '73, not running, but complete. 3300 miles, some surface rust, sticky throttle, seriously questionable tires, and a most recent inspection sticker from 1975.

Hopefully I'll have some time this week to see what it's going to take to get her running.

Nice looking CT. They're quite easy to work on and plenty of parts available. Let us know how she runs! There's also some CT specific forums etc, so if you need help it's available.

Had a little time to tinker last night. Cleaned out the tank, replaced the split fuel lines, installed inline fuel filters, cleaned the nasty carb (how did I live without an ultrasonic cleaner all those years), and she fired on the 3rd kick. Need to dial in the carb, change the oil, check timing, clean the points, check the ignition advance and all the usual stuff, but maybe time for a short test ride in the next couple of days.

I did get to go for a short shakedown ride last night. Changed the oil, verified timing, adjusted the valves (which had no gap at all), and finally figured out shifting is backwards (toe down to upshift, heel down to downshift) and went around the block a few times. Still lots of things to take care of and a few parts to order, like a new rear brake switch, but she's going to turn into a solid rider. Then I have to decide if I want to keep her as is and just polish her up a bit, or blow her apart for a full strip and paint.

Yes, they were like that up til 74 or 75. After that they changed them to
a normal shift pattern, toe up to shift up.
Mine is a '77 and shifts normally.
When I was a kid I had a '64 street model Honda 90, and it shifted
the way your does, toe down to shift up.

Gorgeous!
I wish I had known that ahead of time. I spent a while thinking something was wrong with the transmission.

Got a new air filter in today, so I can finish putting the air box back on. Other stuff is on the way!

Great. Good luck with it. You'll love that bike. Not very fast, but it will run forever with proper care.
Mine will cruise all day at 35 to 40. Fastest I've ever seen on level ground is 50....Screaming!
You said yours has 3300 miles? That's nothing. It has a long way to go. Mine had 5000 when I got it four years ago. I put another 5000 on it since. Odometer now reads a bit over 10,000 miles.

Glad to know they're pretty bulletproof. Never thought I'd ride anything that makes my CB125 feel fast, but the 90 sure does

The fetch around $2500- in some parts, and likely not going down.
The optional scabbarb for a rifle was a nice touch.
I rode a trials course on one once. I dabbed a few times, but still got around.
Sold many to the farmers, or as Archie said " So the young bucks could chase the cows "
One day the kids from the Parker family, came in with the back wheel in the back of dads Cadillac, sprocket side down on the leather seat.
I showed a lot of them how to change tyres back then.

Well, rode to work and home today just to see how she did. Only 3 miles each way, but she did great, though I'm still working on getting the front wheel true.

I made a rule for myself. Don't get on Craigslist unless you are completely okay to buy something haha. It's a slippery slope.

took my wife for her first ride on my bike. we only went 25 mph and a mile and a half. She was pretty nervous, but I think she will get used to it, at least until she gets more practice on her trike.
