'07 R6 vs '15 r3

Looking for my first bike, even though I've ridden multiple times (still definitely a BEGINNER).

I'd like to think that I'm mature enough to start on a 600cc (I would definitely be cautious and respect the bike) and I'm a very quick learner.

However, the r3 isn't bad at all, looks killer and for the same price of an '07 r6 I can pretty much get a new one.

Thoughts? Would be greatly appreciated.

Never thrown a leg over the R3 so I got nothing on that.
But an R6 is not even right for a first bike IMHO. I had one, a novice can get in Real trouble Real fast on an R6.
That bike doesn't 'get comfortable' till about 100 MPH. That's no place for a new rider to be!

too heavy, too powerful, or too expensive

You'll have a lot more FUN riding an R3 right up until the day you are READY for an R6.

Buying too heavy, too powerful, or too expensive a bike too soon is the single most common mistake made by new riders.

I have to agree with Jim. I have no idea on your specific choices but too much weight or power too soon is a "killer" idea.
