What is the best place for me to sell a custom chopper?

Sorry if anyone has ready this in my newbie post, but I really need some help.

I work for a non-profit foundation and we recently got a custom chopper donated to the foundation. We need to sell it fairly soon and fairly easily. Any ideas on the best places to start?

5 years ago it was valued at around $50k. I know it isn't close to that now. It has 0 miles on it. A member used it in his booth at tradeshows to draw folks in, not to ride. It is in pristine shape.

Frame - 2006 CEC Trendsetter S/T
Engine - 2006 Jim's Screamin Eagle 120B
Trans -2006 H-D 5 speed
Cherry Red

Any thoughts on the best way to sell it? The foundation needs cash to fund scholarships and other projects. We want to try to avoid a raffle.

Thanks in advance!

Theres always craigslist, or you could call up a local bike dealer and ask them if they have any suggestions. I've never tried to sell a chopper, but that would be my best guess.

A buddy keeps talking about choppers and customs. Seems they drop about in half. He said he's seen $60,000 bikes for around $32,000 in Florida. Seems the guys want the latest and greatest. It's kind of like street rods - the money that goes in is far more than can usually be gotten out, unless the owner can do a lot of the work.

Good luck with it. I'd take a serious look at doing a raffle. Spend six months to a year going about to any festival or whatever, selling tickets. Otherwise take a trip to Sturgis or Daytona, or any other bike meet where customs will be in the majority, with a for sale sign

I second what Mark said. I'd think about doing a long term raffle and drag the bike around to various shows and gatherings to sell tickets. Maybe display it at a local mall or something too? The chopper market is, if not dead already, certainly dying, and one of the problems in selling your bike is it's very hard to get good financing for a custom built bike, and not as many people have discretionary cash in hand like they did several years ago.

Another vote for a raffle. A LOT more people will buy a $10 or $20 raffle ticket than put in a serious offer on a custom bike.

chopper

A lot of choppers are "valued" at 50k plus, but their real value is way less. You can pick up $25k chops for 10 grand. It's a buyers market. Don't be swayed by the OCC shows and the likes.

Hi dollar choppers have gone the way of the dodo.
