Started in 2008, Million Mile Monday was a yearly event where Harley Davidson riders could log their mileage for the day onto the Harley Owner's Group (H.O.G.) website in an effort to surpass a million miles collectively. The mileage has been greatly surpassed every year, with 4,000,000 miles logged in 2011.
For 2012, the summer event has been changed to the Harley Davidson World Ride. It has been expanded to cover two days, June 24th and 25th.
“H.O.G. is excited to welcome Harley riders around the world to take part in the first-ever Harley-Davidson World Ride,” said Nigel Villiers, Harley-Davidson Director of H.O.G. and Customer Experience International. “On these two days, riders of all nations will band together as one, dedicating ourselves to a shared love of riding motorcycles, and no one will ride alone.”
A rolling odometer on the H.O.G. website
will keep track of the total miles entered. A certificate can be printed up from the website commemorating the miles contributed by each member. All-in-all it's a fairly silly endeavor, but it's always interesting to find out how many miles are accumulated at the end.
