Bell goes Rogue

Bell introduced a new style of helmet today named Rogue. The open helmet design incorporates a type of removable face mask.

Bell has released details of the new helmet, specifically the “muzzle” system that is advertised to provide better protection from the elements than any other open-faced helmet. The removable and adjustable mask is designed to be useful in cold weather conditions or for long distance touring.

The muzzle design is not just functional according to Bell. It also creates an “ominous look... ideal for the attitude and lifestyle synonymous with the cruiser category.” Ominous or not, the quick-release muzzle looks like it can keep a rider's nose warm.

The DOT-approved composite shell, although looking like a half-helmet is actually a three-quarter helmet. The muzzle is attached with Bell's magnet Fidlock system for ease of removal and attachment.

“For years, our sales reps and dealers have had cruiser riders lamenting about the need to lose their bandanas for an open face helmet that’s got the attitude and style that they seek, but also provides some facial coverage for wet, cold or other harsh riding conditions,” said Chris Sackett, General Manager, Bell Powersports. “Rogue fulfills this need from both a standpoint of function and form, with an edgy design that makes it hands down the meanest-looking helmet we’ve ever made. So far, pre-orders from our dealers have been extremely strong, and we’re excited to see the consumer reception for this unique new design.”

I can dig it, appearance wise. The muzzle doesn't actually seem to provide any impact protection, though, so I won't be buying one. I'll stick with a full-face, given my fondness for my lower jaw.

I wear a full face helmet & using it after breaking the visor was cold, bug filled & I didn't like it at all. Soo glad I found the fix & a new visor Much warmer & No More bugs. I got hit with a bunch of bees one time & I was
sooo glad to have the full coverage-Even so a couple dead ones wound up inside the helmet through the visor (open a bit)

"Ominous look"? Watch out for those guys and give them a wide path on the roadway.

I think if I saw some guys wearing this I'd have a hard time not laughing at them.

Agreed. Style over function for sure.

On the other hand, it'll open up a market for adhesive decals to put on the front of it. You know, skull teeth etc, LOL.

Reminds me of Shredder from the TMNT.

I'm more a fan of the OBSE and GPA Tornado style helmets. Still poser-ish but Id wear one.

This helmet looked pretty cool to me when I first saw the design.... Then I watched the video and saw how it looked on the girl...Ill definitely have to try it on before I order it. I just cant stand the "mushroom" look of DOT approved half helmets. Guess Ill stick with my $20 novelty half helmet and my skull bandana
