For the second year in a row, the Triumph Speed Triple R has been chosen by MotorCyclist magazine as the Naked Bike of the Year.
The new and improved 2012 Speed Triple was classified as “a whole lot better” than last year's winning Speed Triple. Lighter aluminum-forged wheels, a new top shelf Ohlins suspension and Brembo Monobloc brakes with ABS were listed as the top reasons. The use of ample amounts of carbon fiber and the new Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP tires were also seen as improvements.
The 1050 cc inline three-cylinder receives heaps of praise for both having an abundance of torque and for the sound. The motorcycle was said to be easier to ride than ever and more potent in the curves.
The runner up for the Naked Bike of the Year was the Aprilia Tuono V4R. The 1000 cc V-4 has the same power train and electronics as the RSV4 superbike, but with more upright seating and a lot less plastic surrounding the motorcycle.

I love the Aprilia! When my 919 wears out (which will be like a million miles from now) I WILL get a Aprilia.
Oh how I love being naked.

The speed tripple is a great looking bike. If there were only more money and time, I would have them all.

I would love to find a way to put Daytona bodywork on a Speed Triple!
