A friend was up in Wisconsin working and wanted to take a break to see his family. Mrs. Eye told him he wasn't allowed to come home to Florida unless he brought the goods with him.

We should be good to go for awhile, but two bottles didn't make it to the house so we've created another Heath fan. Luckily my friend will be home for a month then is going back to work for 6 months. See what you started?

Haha! I have yet to meet anyone that has tried it and not said it is one of the best they have tried. I've sent a bottle to a friend in NM, too, and he's now an addict. :D

Kaptain K, yes, it is locally distilled just a little north of my location. A small one man distillery. It is a very unique rum, with a very unique distillation process. http://northwoodsdistillery.com/

When yeast metabolizes carbohydrates, about 200 different alcohols are created. The only one that makes us “happy” is Ethyl Alcohol, the rest of the alcohols are toxins that our bodies need to clean up and lead to that “sad” feeling in the morning. This means that a bottle of our rum has more “happy” alcohol than many of our competitors products. The alcohol that contributes to that “sad” feeling takes up valuable space inside the bottle; it’s still alcohol, but you’re paying good money for the wrong kind of alcohol. Since the “sad” alcohols have less economic value, it helps the company’s bottom line by creating more profit from inexpensive alcohol’s. Some of these companies even add spice to cover up the taste of these toxins.
edit: Eye, I hope you don't mind, I shared your picture with the distiller. He'll like it. :)

Ah mead! I acquired a taste for it from going to renaissance faires, and quickly discovered that a lot of it is way too sweet, but a good one from a good meadery isn't and is truly an excellent drink!

I'm quite content with a good Marzen, Dopplebock, or Czech style Pilsner. We do have some great breweries up here too (Potosi, New Glarus, Leinenkugel's, to name my favs)
We have some great wineries too, but I'm not a wine drinker.

Hops, Barley, and Water... the end.

My dad, a union carpenter his entire life, has drank PBR since I can remember. Heck, it's the beer Walt Kowalski drank. I'm no beer snob. Thought I really dislike most "light" beers, not enough flavor. And I dislike most "heavy" beers, too much flavor. I'm just a simple regular old pilsner guy.

Beer through a pipe? One part of me wants to revolt and the other part is getting a little thirsty at the thought.

If you're into Vikings, next time you got to the festival in Wacken head over to Haddeby (also called Haithebu.) It's only about, say, 50 miles away near Schleswig and is the site of a very important Viking find. They have a pretty good museum and used to have reconstructed Viking houses too.
