Could be. I think NSU's and DKW's had an open fork though, more like a girder. There were so many different bikes then it's hard to say. Could also be a Sachs, Wanderer, or Standard Record. They all have a similar look.
IN the picture its when he was in the army in Greece... i wouldnt know if its english made... im gonna go check it out and see if i find anything that looks like it
This looks pretty close. Mid 1950's Royal Enfield Super Meteor.
A better picture would probably help, and your Dad's might be a different year with slightly different changes.
